Volunteers Invited! Next FOGL Habitat Restoration/Maintenance Work Party Is Sat. June 6, 9 AM to 12 PM

If you happened to see our work party in May and wondered how you could join us, here’s your chance! Join us for our last spring work party before summer arrives. Don’t worry if you can’t stay the entire time; any amount of time that you can donate will make a difference.

The work area for the morning will be along the western shoreline starting just south of the Bathhouse theater parking lot. Work will begin at gravel beach located just south of the tennis courts, near the south end of the parking lot. Parking is available in the Bathhouse parking lot. Meet along the west lake path, at the gravel beach just south of the tennis courts (due east of intersection of N 72nd St. & Aurora Ave. N.)

For this work party we will focus on maintaining an area that was weeded last year. If time allows, we will continue moving southward along the shoreline to get more of the blackberry and ivy. We will have a variety of tools for you to use and some gloves. If you have a favorite tool and your own gloves, be sure to bring them along. Be sure to dress for possible wet weather, and long sleeves to protect against blackberry thorns. Please no open toed shoes.

Thanks again to those who joined us on May 9! We managed to make a very large pile of blackberry for pick up by Parks Department.
